Good nutrition is vital to a child’s health and well-being.  The food we eat affects every aspect of our lives – mood, behaviour, concentration – and at this age children grow very quickly and need plenty of nutrients and calories.

Here at Ducklings we offer the children a variety of foods from the different food groups, we use free-range chicken and eggs, fresh fruit and vegetables and vegetarian based protein.  We never add salt or sugar to any of our meals.

Any recipe suggestions from parents are always welcome.

Mealtimes at Ducklings are a social occasion and our children benefit from small table groups with an adult.  They are encouraged to serve themselves and use this opportunity to catch up on the days’ events.

Milk or milk alternative is provided every day and fresh drinking water is always available from our water fountain.

Our menu is rotated every three weeks and regularly reviewed.  A copy of our menu is displayed on our notice board for parents’ information.

Special dietary requirements are catered for.

We regularly have ‘taster’ activities for the children which introduces them to new tastes and textures of different foods, the children are encouraged to help prepare the ingredients.
